Fun Fact

I like to play clarinet and have played music all my life (primarily French horn and clarinet). I usually take my clarinet along during my travels.

I once had an opportunity to play in "The Butcher's Chamber" in Egypt, in the complex of the most ancient of all, the Step Pyramid of Saqqara (see the small buildings to the left of the large Step Pyramid) made famous by the movie "The Mummy", since this is supposedly the place Imhotep was buried (but has not yet been found). Our guide opened the creaky wooden door, let us in the dry, cool room, and closed it after us as he stood guard outside. I played for about 15 minutes, letting the resonance pour around me, filling out the chamber with reedy sounds and hearing the room's effect on the tones.

It was amazing.
