"Librarian is typing" feature on it's way!

At today's QuestionPoint Advisory Board meeting, Susan McGlamery announced that planned for the June install (before ALA) is... (drumroll please)...

"the librarian/customer is typing" messages!

Needless to say, applause was heard world-wide after that. :-) This feature has been on the list for quite a while (years!) and i'm SO STOKED to be able say that IT IS COMING!

In addition, "descriptive code customization" is also planned for the June install. This would allow institutions or systems to customize their own descriptive codes- this means that whatever institution wanted to, could keep better track of the kinds of questions they're getting through AskUsNow!- something that you've been asking for for a long time. Currently, you have a pre-scripted list of descriptive codes, but not all of them are meaningful.

In the meeting we also talked about:

  • Cooperative numbers (answering percentage, total questions, average wait time, qwidget usage, etc.)
  • the Qwidget roll-up pilot
  • the cooperative greeting script
  • class visits

You can read my (brief) notes with screenshots or listen to the recording of the meeting:
