Haiti EarthQuake Resources
A massive earthquake struck Haiti on January 12th. The New York Times reports "the quake was the worst in the region in more than 200 years."

The U.S. State Department has set up a phone number for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti: 1-888-407-4747.
Information about what happened
- CNN reports a "'serious loss of life' expected".
- The White House Blog has video of the President's remarks about the crisis. You can also read the transcript.
- The New York Times reports what happened as well as information about the history of Caribbean earthquakes and Haiti's social conditions. Also see their topic on Haiti for updated articles and additional information.
- You can follow the #haiti conversation on Twitter for information being posted. (no Twitter account needed to see public messages). Twitter is often seen in situations such as these as the reporting from the "man on the ground" as individuals can often mobilize faster and spread the word faster than large organizations or news agencies.
